Discovering God As Companion

Discovering God As Companion

Real Life Stories From What Canst Thou Say?

EDITED BY MARIELLEN GILPIN
The nearly eighty articles are culled from a quarterly newsletter begun in 1994 that gathers the mystical and contemplative experiences of Quakers. The book is broken into thematic sections: `God Breaking In,' `God in Nature,' `God in Times of Pain and Despair,' `Living Faithfully,' and `In Celebration.' Contributors include Brad Sheeks, Pat McBee, Marcelle Martin, Stephen Angell, Thomas Kelly, Mary Waddington, Bill Taber, and many others. "This book witnesses to the action of God in the lives of Friends today, and their response to it. Mysticism at work." - Fran Taber

God's Healing Grace

Reflections On A Journey With Mental And Spiritual Illness - Php 394

BY MARIELLEN GILPIN
Most of us go about our daily lives assuming that we all participate in one shared reality....'Reality' is not as shared as we may think. Research indicates that 40-80% of people have out-of-the-ordinary experiences at some times in their lives, although talking about it is rare. I commend Mariellen Gilpin for her courage to describe her own unique experiences. We may not all need to name our intense feelings as demons or deal with our demons as the author does, but she does deal with them. The voices of persons labeled with mental illnesses are voices in our communities that need to be heard.
