BY JOHN WATTS

Brief Description:
"A Few Songs Occasioned" is a collection of songs written, recorded and produced by Jon Watts for his senior year project in the Quaker Leadership Scholars Program at Guilford College. The album delves into the first generation of Friends, outlining the first Friends' hesitations with participating in music in an introductory interview with Max Carter, then provides spiritual and emotional histories and perspectives on George Fox, James Nayler and Solomon Eccles. The album concludes with an interview with Max Carter describing some of the directions that Quakerism took after the first generation.
