Book List:Basic QuakerismCorporate Discernment
“Let all nations hear the word by sound or writing. Spare no place, spare not tongue or pen, but be obedient to the Lord God and go through the world and be valiant for the Truth upon the Earth.”
George Fox, 1656
Quakers have always been a literary people, spreading their faith in the writings of individual Friends, though journals, letters, and epistles. Also, because Quakers believe in continuing revelation, there is a resultant need to record new gleanings of the Spirit as they are discovered. Here are most of the books we carry, listed by author.

BY PATRICIA HAMPL Her writing is well known to friends from gathering workshops on spiritual storytelling that have used "I Could tell you stories" and made that book a best seller for us. This book tells the story of her parents a debonair Czech father, whose floral work gave him entre to St. Paul society, and her mother a distrustful Irishwoman with an uncanny ability to tell a tale. Written while her mother was dying, it is a telling of life's lived with passion and spirit that created and enriched her own.

Conversations About Science And The Human Spirit
BY KRISTA TIPPETT NPR's Krista Tippet interviews scientists Freeman Dyson, Paul Davies, Jenna Levin and Quaker Parker Palmer amongst others. Tippett says rather grandly of the book " To the faithful I say this: if God is God, we cannot be afraid of what we can learn with our remarkable three-pound brain. I offer this book to all-religious and nonreligious, theologians, scientists, and people of all walks of life in between-who want to engage our kindred capacities to think and to live together more richly than our debates would ever suggest is possible." It is an fascinating look at the intersection of "God" and science.
