Dear Benjamin Banneker

Dear Benjamin Banneker

Dear Benjamin Banneker

BY ANDREA DAVIS-PINKNEY, ILLUSTRATED BY BRIAN PINKNEY

Brief Description:
Though the fact that Banneker regularly attended meeting for worship is not mentioned, this is a very good short biography of this remarkable free Black man: an accomplished astronomer and mathematician and the first Black man to publish an almanac. He also wrote Thomas Jefferson as incredibly eloquent letter (which is excerpted here) speaking against slavery. Ages 6-9.
