George Hudson (6223)
The Rise And Fall Of The Railway King
BY A J ARNOLD, S MCCARTNEY
Brief Description:
George Hudson was the epitomy of a fraudulent British capitalist in the early 1800's but was able to establish a vast railway network that established the future wealth of York. Many British Quakers were involved in the development of the railways and it was Friends who asked some of the awkward questions that caused his downfall in 1849. Little actual Quaker interest, but perhaps his methods have their mirror in many modern day concerns. SECONDHAND in A1 condition with dustjacket.
