"I was motivated to write this pamphlet about prayer because I felt I didn't know nearly enough about it, and I wanted to learn what others had to say about praying. Of course, in the past I have read plenty of books and pamphlets, attended workshops and I had many conversations to learn about prayer, but always I felt something was missing. With this paper I tried something new; I prayed the learning, and that has made all the difference. Prayer is a mystery of the spiritual life which is learned by doing as much as anything else. I learned most by actually trying the techniques of prayer taught to me by others, experimenting with my own personal styles." - the author
