QUAKER PRESS

“We have no time but this present time to bear witness to the power of the Light to re-create the human heart, and thus transform our doing, our seeing, and our speaking. There is much tenderness and good will among us, but have we been baptized with fire, as well as the Holy Spirit?”

— Brian Drayton, from On Living with a Concern for Gospel Ministry, 2006

Quaker Press of FGC publishes resources that nurture meetings and individual Friends. We are committed to an historical ministry as “publishers of Truth” in the experience of Friends. We work closely with other FGC programs to produce books and other resources that help to foster individual and corporate spiritual growth and public witness. Quaker history, biography, early Quaker writings, devotionals, reflective essays, fiction and memoir speak to Friends’ living ministry. Quaker Press supports leadership and community-building through resources on Quaker faith and practice, worship, clerking, and outreach. Curricula for adults and youth offer opportunities for group study of the Quaker faith and testimonies—including the life and message of Jesus as found in the Bible and guidance on how to incorporate our faith in our daily lives.

Young Friends Share Their Experiences Of Quakerism

EDITED BY GEOFFREY BLACK, ZION KLOS, CLAIRE REDDY, MILAM SMITH, RACHEL STACY
This book is a collection of inspiring, deeply-felt, writing about young Friends faith life, with sections on worship, testimonies, spiritual journeys, and walking on water. "We shared the common experience of trying to make sense of our religion, of seeking to answer the questions, 'What does Quakerism mean to me, in my heart?' You will find many different voices in these pages, but above all, you will find voices of faith. If there is one message we want this book to convey, it is that young Friends' voices may not be loud, but we do have things to say, and we are speaking." - The editors

Year Of Grace

Year Of Grace

A Novel

BY MARGARET HOPE BACON
Margaret Hope Bacon, author of many Quaker related books, brings us a poignant and courageous tale of an elderly, but active, Quaker woman coming to terms with her own mortality in the final year of her life. The author has created a truly inspirational character whose spiritual life, based on a strong Quaker foundation, is reflected at the culmination of her earthly life in a remarkable 'year of grace.' "Beautifully written, this story of a spirit and action-filled last adventure will speak to many conditions, from that of us "oldies" nearing the end of our own journey, to that of the 'youngies' just finding the trail. Bacon reminds us all how adventurous old age can be!"-Boulding
