Describes Quakers' attempts to mitigate the suffering among not only victims of Nazism but Nazi sympathizers in Austria and Lithuania as well. Virtually all the Berlin Quakers hid Jews during the war and opposed the Nazis even after they lost their jobs and were harassed by the Gestapo. Risking their lives, the Friends persisted in efforts to alleviate suffering. How should a Quaker behave in a meeting for worship with a policeman present? Spies didn't stop Friends in worship from openly criticizing Hitler, but they did imprison some Friends
