Change And Preservation In The Same Current

Change And Preservation In The Same Current

The 2011 Michener Lecture

BY LLOYD LEE WILSON
"In my understanding of Fox, the word Christ is here a pointer, and it points toward God, not toward the many meanings and connotations that Christ has gathered over the past couple of thousand years". Unlike most Christians, Friends have never been Trinitarians-we've never tried to figure out and write down just how God and Christ and the Holy Spirit are related to one another, or which part has what responsibilities or powers. As Fox himself often pointed out, the word Trinity does not appear in Scripture. So let the word Christ serve as a pointer toward God in Fox's remarkable epiphany that Christ has come to teach his people himself.

Quaker Stories For Friends Trained In The Godly Play (r) Method

BY THE FAITH & PLAY WORKING GROUP OF PHILADELPHIA YEARLY MEETING
Godly Play(R), created by Jerome Berryman, opened the way for Friends to teach bible stories using a method that embodies the Quaker idea of continuing revelation, supports multiple perspectives on a story, encourages silence as a tool within storytelling and honors the diversity of ways the spirit works within each person. This curriculum uses the full range of these techniques to help Friends tell stories of Quaker Faith & Practice. This is a resource that will work best for Friends and children already acquainted with Godly Play methods. This is a downloadable .pdf version of this publication. Now includes 2 extra stories (see below)

Freeing The Spirit

Freeing The Spirit

Nominations In The Society Of Friends In Theory & Practice

BY ROY STEPHENSON
In this book Roy Stephenson examines how Quakers can and do put their most deeply held principles, springing from their religious experiences, into pracice. Drawing from the depth of the religious tradition which first gave rise to George Fox's pioneering message in the 17th century, he shows how these principles remain the radical foundation of Quaker faith. Quakers can continue to be radical in this century, even within their own structures, through the way in which Friends in Britain are selected to hold office in the Society.

Let Your Life Speak Story Materials

For Faith And Play

FROM FAITH AND PLAY CREATIONS
The materials for telling Let your lives Speak. "When we listen, deep down, we know what is right. Sometimes what is right can be hidden and hard to discern. At other times, what is right may be clear, but following through may be, for some reason, difficult. When Friends both listen for what is right and live in ways that reflect that truth, they are showing INTEGRITY. The word integrity means whole, complete, undivided, and that's the way it feels when we live with integrity." F& P Creations
