Brief Description:
It is hard to know what is the best English translation of the Koran, Dawood first completed this translation in 1956, and it is a considered and flowing narrative, probably the easiest to read of any I have come across. He has revisited it many times as it was reprinted each time refining the translation. It is short of footnotes, and is best thought of as an introduction, but for the average reader this is probably the best place to start.
