Truce

The Day The Soldiers Stopped Fighting

BY JIM MURPHY

Brief Description:
Ages 10 up. A book about the "Christmas Truce" in WW1 when German and English soldiers came out of their trenches talked, sang and celebrated together. Conveys the absolute horror and pointlessness of the war without being too gruesome. He tells of the war, its course till then, the commanders reactions, and of the effect the truce had on the opposing soldiers. Definitely a thoughtful anti war book and he draws lessons that he applies to the Iraq invasion.
