Gunther Anders, a philosopher in Vienna, got in touch with him at the VA hospital in Waco, TX, and the correspondence between Eatherly and Anders forms the core of the book.

The information contained in this volume is of great importance because Quakers did not have their vital statistics recorded in civil offices prior to 1850. The records kept by Friends Monthly Meetings during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries usually consisted of births, deaths, marriages, and, of, certificates of removal for Society of Friends members who relocated from one meeting to another. Its incomprehensible to me, but is, I gather, a goldmine for genealogists and historians.
